Staying Organized

This page will go into how to keep organized so that you'll be better prepared for your exams. Also, when you need to ask for help, it's a lot easier to access what you're looking for.

Labeling Your Binder Dividers

I would recommend labeling your binder dividers with the following:

1) Vocab

Keep all your vocab sheets here.

2) Kanji

If you use the study method mentioned in the "Studying Kanji" post, you can keep all your sheets here.

4) Writing (like any essays)

It's good to be able to look back on your writing to see where you made mistakes.

4) Tests /Quizzes

6) Handouts

I usually keep this binder in my room so I'm not lugging it around everywhere but when it comes time to study, I'll just take it to my study spot.

Taking Notes

If you like to type your notes, create a folder for Japanese and make a separate vocab and grammar document for each semester. During class, I'll write any new vocab words that were mentioned. In grammar, I'll divide the document by unit and keep all the grammar lessons there.

When I was taking my summer course, I bought two notebooks--one for grammar and one for new vocab words.

Organizing Your Daily Work

I generally carry around an accordion folder which I've labeled from Monday through Friday. I keep all the homework I received in each of my classes for that day in each slot. At the end of the week, I'll empty it out and sort all the paper into a binder.
