Katsudon(カツ丼

Katsudon is a super simple and tasty dish to make when you have leftover tonkatsu or chicken-katsu that doesn't taste as good the next day.

Ingredients(材料)

1 onion(玉ねぎ、1個)

Leftover tonkatsu(残り物のとんかつ)

1/3 cup mirin(みりん、〜80ml)

1/3 cup MEMMI sauce(MEMMI, 〜80ml)

1/4 cup soy sauce(しょうゆ、〜60ml)

~1 cup water(水、〜240ml)

2 Tbs sugar(さとう、大さじ1)

5 eggs​(卵、5個)

Rice(ご飯)

Preparation(準備)

時間:10分

  1. Cook your rice. You can use the leftover rice water to water your plants after!

  2. Cut the onions into thin slices.

  3. Beat the eggs and set aside for later.

  4. Mix the mirin, soy sauce, and MEMMI in a small bowl.

How to make(つくり方)

時間:30分

  1. Sauté onions with olive oil on medium-low heat until wilted and soft.

  2. Pour the mirin, soy sauce, and MEMMI sauce on top of the onions.

  3. Cut your tonkatsu or chicken-katsu into strips and place them on top of the onions.

  4. If you're using leftovers, let the tonkatsu cook until it's warmed up.

  5. Pour in your eggs and let everything cook for 5 minutes without doing any mixing or stirring. Adjust the time depending on how hard or soft you like your eggs.
